Reset 2.0
Over at RFE/RL, Brian Whitmore argues that Joe Biden is engaged in a "reset of the reset" toward Russia. I added my thoughts there that it also could be an effort to lay the groundwork for what might be the inevitable failure of that effort.

Does anyone else find it hypocritical that this administration admonishes Russia for not decentralizing and calling its current path "unsustainable", while they are leading us into centralization of nearly every major sector? Although I may agree with his words, his own actions at home contradict his words. This is conceptually the same as Pres. Obama's speech to the African nations that admonished them for lack of accountability and perversion of tax, trade and business policies. Do as I say not as I do. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. I feel as though I am in the land of Oz.
Look at what Ambassador Bhadrakumar has written on 08/01/2009 at Asia Times web site - www.atimes.com
Thanks for the note on that RFE/RL piece.
A politcially incorrect, but spot on submission was just sent to that venue.
;)
Unlike its overall selection of featured commentary, RFE/RL is pretty good at accepting dissenting comments.

Hm. What didn't Obama get from the meetings with Medvedev and Putin?
He got a more secure LOC to Afghanistan.
He got agreement on the structure of a strategic arms agreement.
What he didnt get was abject Russian submssion to US demands on every aspect of Russian foreign and domestic policy.
It becomes ever more clear that abject Russian submssion to US demands on every aspect of Russian foreign and domestic policy is the minimum US requirement for good US-Russian relations.
Fortunately, Russia helps the US far more than the US helps Russia, though the US foreign policy elite dosen't quite understand the consequences of that.
